These systems maintain safe distances from other vehicles, keep the car centered in its lane, reduce speed in safety zones and curves, and even stop and start the car when needed—eliminating the need for human intervention in steering, shifting, and braking.
Autonomous driving technologies are categorized from level 0 to level 5, with level 5 representing full automation. Hyundai Motor Group aims to develop level 3 self-driving cars capable of highway driving by 2021 and level 4 self-driving cars suitable for city driving.
The Matchup Program offers four core tasks and detailed training courses essential for autonomous driving: "Cognition, Judgment, Control, Communication, and Network." These technologies are vital in paving the way for the future of autonomous driving.
