Course Introduction
한국사에서 근대시대는 전통체제가 무너지고 새로운 문물이 들어오던 격변의 시대이다. 한국의 전통종교였던 불교도, 당시에 모든 이들이 그랬던 것처럼, 새로운 시대 속에서 자신의 정체성을 지키면서도 시대 변화에 적응하려고 노력해왔다. 본 강의에서는 근대시대에 활약했던 한국불교사상가들을 소개하며, 이들의 삶을 통해 불교와 한국의 근대시대를 좀 더 입체적으로 조망해본다.
Modern period in Korean history was a time of rapid change in which traditional systems collapsed and a new civilization was introduced. Like all other religions, Buddhism, which was a traditional Korean religion, has tried to adjust to historical changes while maintaining its own identity in a new period. In this lecture series, I will introduce Korean Buddhist intellectuals, who were active in modern period, and explore the modern period of Korea more multi-dimensionally through their lives.
학습 목표(Course Objectives)
1. 11명의 불교인들의 생애와 삶을 통해 한국 근대시대를 탐색한다. (We explore Korean modern history through the lives of eleven Buddhists)
2. 한국 근대시대를 살아간 불교지식인들의 삶을 통해 다양한 선택 들을 살펴본다. (We look at diverse choices through the lives of Buddhist intellectuals who lived in Korea in the modern period)
3. 한국 근대 불교의 주요 인물들의 삶과 사상에 대해서 설명할 수 있다. (We will be able to discuss the lives and thoughts of major figures in Korean modern Buddhism)

이 강좌는 한국학, 불교학에 대한 관심이 있는 분들을 위한 강좌로 선수요건 없이 모든 학습자가 수강할 수 있습니다.
This course is designed for individuals interested in Korean Studies and Buddhist Studies, and no prior experience is required.

이 강좌를 듣기 위한 별도의 교재는 없으며, 학습자료와 가이드북(자료실)은 PDF파일로 제공합니다.
No separate textbook is required for this course. Learning materials and the guidebook (available in the Materials) are provided as PDF files.
평가 방법 및 이수기준(Assessment Method and Completion Criteria)
평가방법: 퀴즈 100% (토론 및 생각해보기는 평가점수에 반영되지 않습니다)
이수기준: 총점이 60점 이상이고 설문조사를 완료하면 이수증 발급
Assessment Method: Quiz 100% (Discussion and reflection are not included in the completion criteria)
Completion Criteria: Total of more than 60 points and Survey completed
